Who provides these services
Insurance broking and any insurance advice are provided by Gavin Sconce, the principal broker (Authorised Representative No. 1301999), of Cover Group Pty Ltd trading as Cover Confidence (Corporate Authorised Representative No. 132 0844, ABN 81 696 145 374). Not independent
BMIA Broker Network Pty Ltd and its Authorised Representatives are not independent, impartial or unbiased under section 923A of the Corporations Act, because we maintain relationships with insurers and may receive commission or other benefits when we provide personal advice about insurance products. If you have any questions about this, please ask us.
How we are paid
When we arrange an insurance policy, the insurer usually pays a commission, calculated as a percentage of the base premium (excluding government taxes, charges and levies). This commission varies between 0 and 30 percent. We may also charge a broker fee, which depends on the complexity of the work and is shown on your invoice. BMIA deducts a management fee of between 0 and 22.5 percent from the total commission and broker fee before paying the balance to us. Where we arrange premium funding, a commission of usually 0 to 4 percent of the funded premium may apply, and where a third party refers you to us we may share 0 to 50 percent of our commission or fee. When we give you personal advice, we will tell you the actual amounts that apply to your policy.
Compensation arrangements
BMIA Broker Network Pty Ltd holds a Professional Indemnity policy that covers it, its employees, contractors and Authorised Representatives for claims relating to the financial services provided under its licence. This satisfies the compensation arrangements required under section 912B of the Corporations Act.
Complaints and the code we follow
If you have a complaint, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. If it is not resolved to your satisfaction, you can escalate it to BMIA and then to the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA), our free external dispute resolution scheme. Full details are on our Complaints page. As an insurance broker we subscribe to the Insurance Brokers Code of Practice.
